Orquestra do Norte
Agent of transformation in the cultural management of our country and creator of a new paradigm in music, the Orquestra do Norte develops an intense activity with regular seasons from North to South. It has held more than 3000 performances in more than a hundred different places. It has presented in Spain, France and Germany.
Being aware of the importance that the increase and diversification of the artistic offer represents for the country's cultural development, the Orquestra do Norte performs major works in music's history, serving the great orchestral repertoire, from baroque to contemporary music, paying particular notice to the dissemination of the Portuguese music.
Liliana de Sousa
Liliana de Sousa began her musical studies at the Maiorff music school, in Maia, with Professor Pedro Telles. In 2013, she got her degree in Singin at the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo do Porto (ESMAE) [School of Music, Arts and Shows of Porto], in the class of Professor Antonio Salgado.
In Portugal, she worked with maestros such as António Saiote, Arthur Maria Pine, Bruno Martins, João Paulo Fernandes, Pedro Teixeira and Toby Hoffman, in Opera and Oratorio, and with the directors Antonio Durães, Peter Konwitschny and Marcos Barbosa in several productions, from Mozart to contemporary opera.
In the context of Opera, she was cast in "Die Zauberflöte" by Mozart, "L'Enfant et les Sortilèges" by Ravel and "Mahagonny Songspiel" by Kurt Weill. In Oratorio she sang as a soloist in Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium in Missa Brevis in D minor by Mozart in the Magnificat of João Rodrigues Esteves and the Christmas Oratorio of Camille Saint-Saëns.
As a student of the International Opera Academy, 2013/15 in Ghent, Belgium, (formerly named Flanders Operastudio), he participated in several productions at the Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, Germany. These productions are part "Nabucco" by Verdi, "Die Schweigsame Frau" by Richard Strauss, Wagner's "Walküre" and "Rusalka" by Antonín Dvorak, where she had the opportunity to work with conductors such as Tomás Netopil, Martyn Brabbins and Giuliano Carella, and directors including Lotte de Beer and Guy Joosten.
Manuel Teixeira
Manuel Teixeira was part of the Gulbenkian Orchestra for several years, where he was violinist and conductor.
In 1977, and after a few teachings by maestro Silva Pereira he joined the "Herbert von Karajan Academy", in Berlin, having finished his training in 1980.
He directed numerous concerts with the RDP orchestras of Lisbon and Porto, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Nova Filarmonia, the Sinfónica Portuguesa, the Orquestra do Algarve, Filarmonia das Beiras and the Orquestra do Norte which often conducts.
In Italy, he appeared in several concerts with "I Solisti Veneti" and, in Spain, with the young Orchestra of Extremadura at the International Festival of Murcia. With the Orchestra "Pro-Música" he cooperated in the Tartini Festival in Padua, in the musical weeks of Santa Cecília, in the cities of Cáceres and Badajoz, and still at the International Festival of Algarve.
More recently he directed the soloists of Bratislava, Slovakia, and the Vivaldi Orchestra, Mexico City, a concert which was part of the 9th International Summer Festival.
For twenty-two years he was in charge of the direction of the choir "Poliphonia" with which he performed throughout the continent, autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira, and in various cities of Spain. Of which the Paris, Rome, the Festival of Loreto and Macau concerts especially stand out.
He was professor of violin in the conservatories of Castelo Branco, in Cáceres, Badajoz and at the Conservatório Nacional de Lisboa (National Conservatory of Lisbon).
