MMIPO Christmas tree by Topázio
João Jesus

Inauguration: 11th DEC. | MMIPO | 7:00 pm

The installation designed by the architect João Jesus for Misericórdia do Porto Museum intends to recreate the imagery of the Christmas tree, the traditional cone-shaped pine tree.

Using the materials and products manufactured by the Topázio Company founded in 1874 with tradition in the art of shaping gold and silver. Taking advantage of elements resulting from the various stages of the process of transformation of metals, from left over raw materials or products on hold between stages of production to finished pieces that were in storage.

The installation will be present in the Gallery of the Benefactors, a two floored wide space with a skylight on the top. Taking advantage of these features, a unique piece was created, suspended by rods, which occupies space in a subtle and structured way, where transparency and permeability filter the gaze of those who visit it.
