AXA Employees Choir Club
Created in 1988, by initiative of a group of employees, the AXA Employees Choir Club consists of 25 elements. For 14 years, the Group was directed by maestro José de Castro. Since 2002, it's directed by Ligia Castro, his daughter, in a relationship of complicity made out of enthusiasm, joy and determination of who wants to be better and better.
The Group performed concerts across the country, in particular in the See of Miranda do Douro, in the Church of Oliveira (Guimarães), in Santo Antão Church (Évora), in the Lisbon Geography Society, in the evening concerts of the Centro Cultural de Belém and in most of churches of the city of Porto. It participated in the international festivals of Vienna (1997) and Venice (2003), organized by the InterKultur Foundation, and of Laxe (2004) in an Porto/Galician cultural exchange. In 2009, it performed Santa Maria sopra Minerva Basilica in Rome.
For its 20th year celebration, the Group organized a big exhibition in public spaces of AXA - Seguros in Lisbon and Porto. The Choir has associated itself with solidarity actions from the AXA Corações Foundation and the Cais Foundation, and has played in nursing homes for the elderly and in prisons. In December, it's tradition that the Group perform a Christmas concert in their home city of Porto.
